It is unfortunate that veterans and non veterans are free to claim they were awarded medals, when in fact they did not earn them.
While the Supreme Court cited the First Amendment, it also open the doors to allow false hoods and impersonations to be protected under the Constitution.
But if this is the case, then people can impersonate Supreme Court Justices, Judges, Police, Doctors, etc... Where does it end?
However, the Supreme Court also laid the responsibility on Congress to craft a better law against this unethical practice.
Perhaps, one method is to provide some ability for employers to verify medals and awards cited on resumes of applicants, with the pentagon.
Perhaps, the pentagon should be the ones filing criminal charges on imposters and not the civilian courts.
